Abstract

Emerging technologies such as Internet-of-Things (IoT) produce data in huge amounts and this data is known as big data. Cloud computing is a technology applied to process this data but it consumes more time. IoT applications have features like scalability and on-demand services. So, it is hard to address the issues related to real-time applications. To resolve these problems, fog computing was introduced. Fog layer exists in between cloud and edge devices. Fog computing has evolved as an emerging technology to provide better services to the users of Data Centres in Cloud computing. In this paper, the concepts of fog computing have been reviewed, discussed elaborately on different architectures, applications, challenges, security issues and open research problems in fog computing.
