Abstract

This paper aims at investigating the employers’ perceptions regarding the use of LinkedIn as a recruitment tool. A sample size of 49 employers was selected based on convenience sampling method from 2 cities in Bangladesh who have organizational LinkedIn profiles. In order to reveal their perceptions, 153 graduate seeking candidates were selected through purposive sampling who had active LinkedIn accounts and were sent to those employers for the jobs of paid internship. Out of them, 66 candidates were recruited by those employers. The results indicate that LinkedIn is a supplementary recruitment tool. In addition, it was revealed that the candidates having adequate job related information, skills and expertise; and similar information in LinkedIn and CVs/Resumes were preferred by most of the employers. The results of the study are expected to contribute to recent hot discussed issue of social media recruitment and fill some gaps on relevant literature.
