Wars and natural disasters have come to stay in our societies leading to forced migration of people from their communities to new locations either within or outside their national boundaries. The destruction of lives and cultural property affect the soul and identity of the communities. This article appraises the plight of internally displaced persons in Nigeria in relation to their heritage which symbolises their identity and makes recommendations towards alleviating their precarious situation.
