Abstract

This paper explores the role of sustainable enterprise in the context of a rapidly emerging economy. It centres on a multiple case study analysis based upon observations and interview data from six organisations operating in Dubai. Preliminary results indicate that the motivation to transition to sustainable enterprise primarily depends upon the commitment and passion of the enterprise leaders. The availability of niche opportunities, support from the government, and the collaboration with diverse stakeholders of a sustainability network are also adjudged to be important factors.
