Abstract
The paper deals with the simulation for closed loop control of a high gain step-up DC-DC converter (HGSUC) driven Brush Less Direct Current (BLDC) motor for Fuel Cell Vehicles (FCV). The simplest control strategy using hall-effect sensors are employed to control the BLDC motor. The output voltage of fuel cells (FC) are very low as compared to the voltage of DC bus in case of a fuel cell vehicle. With increase in output current output voltage reduces significantly. A HGSUC with a wide input span is crucial to match the output voltage of FC and the DC bus voltage. And also it should have high conversion efficiency and the power semiconductor devices should exhibit low voltage stress. The simulation of high gain converter with 1kW/310V and a BLDC motor of 1hp/310V has been done which validates the correctness of its theoretical analysis and suitability of the high gain converter as a power interface.
