Abstract

Supplier selection is a key component of supply chain management. Several methodologies employing a plethora of qualitative and quantitative criteria have been proposed over the years to address the issue. The strategic importance of supplier selection and the presence of robust artificial intelligence tools have prompted the authors to propose a modeling approach that blends the two methodologies. The authors propose analyzing strategic information with expert systems and neural networks to modify the parameters of fuzzy linear programming model used for determining supplier allocations.
