Abstract

Corporate purpose has appealed to researchers and practitioners in recent years as an answer to the challenges faced by companies. The purpose is to be able to unite the workforce and direct employees towards an inspirational goal beyond the company's profit. This shared purpose must be developed in a sustainable manner so that the positive impact can be maintained over time, making corporate sustainability a necessity for purpose-driven organizations. But the impact of purpose implementation in corporate sustainability has not been calculated. In this study, we present a PLS-SEM model in which we relate employees' purpose implementation to their sustainable behaviors, characterized by organizational citizenship behaviors. The results show that understanding and internalizing the purpose on the part of the employee, and the contribution the employee makes to the corporate purpose have an impact on the company’s social, environmental and economic sustainability through these sustainable behaviors.
