Abstract

Identity verification is increasingly a legal obligation. There are many different laws and regulations that impose ‎on private-sector parties (either expressly or impliedly) a duty to identify persons with whom they ‎are dealing. ‎This paper examines the obligation generally and in the context of privacy and data security law and regulation.
