Abstract
This brief comment aims to discuss some errors of the Brazilian government in combating the pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 in contributing to the expansion of knowledge not only about what should be done by governments, but also about what should not be done in coping with the health crisis. Although the main focus is related to actions to combat COVID-19, the discussion presented is not restricted to decisions explicitly made in the pandemic management and mainly involves Brazilian national macro-agendas on political leadership and public management.
