Abstract

This essay comments on a proposed bill in New Hampshire that would prevent the teaching of "divisive concepts" in public schools (at least). The text of the bill is available here: https://legiscan.com/NH/text/HB544/id/2238380. This essay comments on the bill from the perspective of state constitutional law and the freedom of religion. It does so, in part, because the legal rights surrounding freedom of religion in the United States, and in the various states, appear to this scholar to be a domain where some available legal and discursive defenses of liberalism reside.

Keywords: Freedom of Religion, Liberalism, Public Education, New Hampshire
