Abstract

This paper provides some basic insights on and a resource base for mastering the concept of “responsible science”. The main narrative of the paper builds on three unfolding perspectives: (1) What is science? (2) What is responsible science? (3) Why (what are) Responsible science matters? This is provided as a basic resource for the research training and capacity building module offered at http://pitchingresearch.com:

Module #1 titled “Responsible Science Matters”.

As such, this paper is designed to be read and consumed as part of a self-paced program of learning, targeting novice researchers of two main varieties: Higher Degree Research students (HDRs), e.g., PhD students; and Early Career Researchers (ECRs). I hope that all novice researchers find this material interesting, helpful and rewarding in their career journey, always striving to be “responsible scientists”.
