Abstract

My colleague Ben Davis was the kind of scholar-activist who got people thinking about things they should be thinking about and got people upset about things that should upset them. This essay reflects on the contributions Professor Davis made to the University of Toledo, his faculty colleagues and many students, to the community, and to the world, drawing on a particularly unusual anecdote from Ben's career.
