Abstract

Antitrust Law is receiving renewed interest as individuals and businesses are feeling the negative impact of megacompanies that are now exercising their power to control access and prices in commerce, with the potential to sacrifice accountability, quality and safety. United States Senator Amy Klobuchar undertakes a substantial reconsideration of proper roles for enforcement of existing antitrust laws and deeper consideration of the need for pro-competition policies and new consumer protections in her 2021 treatise, Antitrust :Taking on Monopoly Power from the Gilded Age to the Digital Age. Professor Katherine Pearson, Dickinson Law, Pennsylvania State University, reviews Klobuchar's treatise from her own elder law research perspective, reflecting concern about the impact of contracting markets for health care and long-term care.
