Abstract
This paper analyzes the fatwas of MUI issued during the COVID-19 pandemic, and therefore data is collected through a literature review of the fatwas of MUI from 2020 to 2021The application of legal maxim in the fiqh of the disaster relies more on legal principles in urgent conditions. The number of legal maxims in each fatwa varies from only stating four (4) legal maxims to twelve (12) legal maxims. This research limits the study to apply the legal maxim to the fatwa of MUI during the COVID-19 pandemic as a product of disaster fiqh. Further research is needed regarding other instinct al hukm methods (rescinding) used in the fatwa of MUI. The fiqh of disaster is a product of MUI ijtihad that can guide Indonesian Muslims to worship during the COVID-19 pandemic. As far as the author knows, no research has raised the fiqh of disaster with the study of the legal maxim in the fatwa of MUI during the COVID-19 pandemic.
