Supervisory Practices of Public Elementary School Principals in the Division of Maguindanao

Abstract
The study aimed to find out and describe the supervisory practices of elementary school principals in the areas of school policies, supervisory roles and functions, in service education, and resources and services. The extents to which these practices are visible were also sought. The principal's competence in terms of supervisory skills and personal and social skills were also determined. A questionnaire was used to gather the needed data. The study revealed the following principal findings: Results on the supervisory practices of elementary school principals show moderate extent of practices in all the four areas. On extent of its visibility: in all the areas, teachers respondents rated their principals different from the way principals rated themselves, that is, teacher's rating is lesser than that of the principals. However, both respondents claimed that supervisory practices of principals in all the four areas are moderately visible. On competence of elementary school principal in the two areas, the same trends of responses were observed as in the above. Both groups of respondents also claimed that principals are very good in supervisory skills and personal and social skills. Except in area of school policies, no significant difference was found between the perceptions of elementary school principals and those of the teachers in their supervisory practices. Also no significant difference in their perceptions was found out in the two areas of administrative competence.
