Abstract

Arrowroot starch extracting is done traditionally by ground arrowroot in a roughened metal sheet. The process takes a larger time, effect for minimum production. The proposed starch extracting machine can handle the bulk quantity of arrowroot in lower time. Dirt, hygienic, and waste problems are minimized by using a machine, human effort is minimum and saves time. Traditional processing is done by human effort and takes more time and a small amount can be processed. The harvesting time of arrowroot lasts only for few months, raw roots cannot be stored for a long time. A huge amount of water is required for the processing of arrowroot. The ground arrowroot is soaked in water and sieved through a cotton cloth, the waste products are hand pressed to gain the product. It takes a huge effort. The hydraulic pressing machine and automated sieving save a lot of time and effort. Water consumptions can also be reduced. 85 kg of the raw root can proceed in 15 minutes and thus bulk production is possible. The proposed method can handle a bulk amount of products with low labour costs and less time consumption. It can be easy for waste management and hygienic production.
