Abstract
Recently, aluminum-based batteries have received extensive attention and research in various countries because of their absolute advantages in terms of cost, energy density, and safety performance compared to other metals-based batteries. Herein, we synthesized ReSe2@C with willow leaf-shaped as the positive electrode of aluminum batteries. ReSe2 is encapsulated in carbon by using weak interlaminar van der Waals force and anisotropic crystal structure. The lower lattice symmetry increases the ion/electron adsorption sites and reduces the energy barrier of aluminochloride ion intercalation between ReSe2 layers. Through electrochemical and XPS analysis of ReSe2@C, it is known that AlCl4- is intercalated/embedded in host material during charging/discharging. Meanwhile, ReSe2@C specific discharge capacity remains 88 mAh g-1 at 100 mA g-1 after 1000 cycles with high Coulomb efficiency up to 98%.
