Effect of One Dimensional Ceria Morphology on Cuo/Ceo2 Catalysts for Co Preferential Oxidation

Abstract
The one dimensional CeO 2 nanocrystals (nanorods, nanowires and nanotubes) were synthesized by hydrothermal methods and supported CuO for CO preferential oxidation (CO-PROX). The supports and catalysts were characterized by various techniques. The results show that the support morphology and addition of copper greatly affected the CO oxidation activity. The CeO 2 -T presents higher low-temperature catalytic oxidation activity compare with CeO 2 -W and CeO 2 -R.The three CuCeO catalysts show a higher catalytic oxidation activity compared with bare CeO 2 supports, because of the strong metal−support interaction between CuO and CeO 2 . Moreover, The CuCeO-T catalyst displays the best catalytic activity for CO oxidation and a broad temperature window of 100°C to 180°C, due to reduced copper species, high oxygen vacancies and lattice oxygen.
