Abstract

We use an original dataset of about 1,400 manufacturing French firms that informs us about their use of telework in 2019. We estimate significant and sizeable positive differences in terms of Total Factor Productivity between firms that teleworked and others. Furthermore, compared to others, teleworking firms are bigger and have more IT and intangible capital per worker, but less real estate. We also show that the intensity of telework use has a non-linear impact on productivity.
