Abstract
Sc-containing Mg alloys have received much attention due to their good performance, but the influence of Sc addition on Mg corrosion is still lack of understanding. In this work, the effect of Sc segregation on the microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of Mg-0.5Zn-0.5Nd-xSc are investigated. The results showed that Sc improves the mechanical properties of as-cast alloys. However, the Sc segregation negatively affect the plasticity and corrosion resistance of the extruded alloys. This work helps to deepen the understanding on the corrosion behavior of Sc-containing Mg alloys and provides theoretical guidance for the development of high-performance Mg alloys.
