Abstract
Three decades ago, a paper was published that introduced a better fitting parameter that relates the alpha decay energy to the half-life. The analysis that was made started from the well-known WKB approximation to arrive at a better way to fit the energy of the alpha decay vs the half-life of a specific isotope. The parameter that was based on the data that existed back then, generated an interesting straight line that fitted the even-even parents with the Q-values of the alpha decays. Here in this report, the same straight line will be regenerated using the new existing data. I will show plots of the energy vs half-life both theoretically and experimentally. Also, the root mean square deviation (rms) deviation plot will be created to obtain the power parameter from the experimental values. Comparisons will be made between the old and the new fits to illustrate the improvement on the fitting parameter. I will also extend the result, and another plot will be generated using the same fitting equation that will include all of the data, including, odd-odd and odd A residuals. The final plot resulted in a solid straight line. This process, along with the new fit equation, will be used as a guide to including data of the heavy cluster decay in the same manner done in. Therefore, super-heavy isotopes will be included in the analysis, along with some predictions to their half-lives. It will be shown that the preformation probability is not to be ignored when analyzing the cluster data due to the reduced mass system of the clusters and parents.
