Abstract

Peroxynitrite ( ONOO - ) plays an essential role in numerous physiological and pathological processes due to its strong oxidation and nitrification. More studies have shown that ONOO - abnormalities are associated with inflammatory diseases such as arthritis, hepatitis, pneumonia, etc. Thus, finding a trustworthy technology to monitor ONOO - levels, as well as detect inflammatory illnesses, is critical. Herein, an ultrafast near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent probe ( Cy-OH-ONOO ) is proposed to detect ONOO - within 30 s. After interacting with ONOO - under physiological circumstances, the probe's borate moiety is oxidized and then separated from Cy-OH-ONOO, thus obtaining a near-infrared fluorescence signal. In addition, when compared to other related biological species; the probe has good selectivity and sensitivity. Furthermore, the probe displays a satisfactory selectivity and sensitivity over other related biological species. Moreover, excellent feature with high biocompatibility and low toxicity of develop probe, it is applied to image and detect level fluctuation of ONOO - in living cells and zebrafish . Therefore , Cy-OH-ONOO could serve as a powerful imaging tool to understand the correlation of ONOO - with inflammatory pathophysiological processes and to assess ONOO - levels in cellular oxidative stress. As a result, Cy-OH-ONOO could be employed as a potent imaging technique to better comprehend the relationship between ONOO - and inflammatory pathophysiological processes, as well as to assess ONOO - levels in cellular oxidative stress.
