Abstract
Abstract: Mn 55 Al 45 C 2 ingot was prepared by arc melting technology, then annealed, tempered and ground in n -heptane or n -heptane and oleic acid solution for 20 h, followed by orientation and spark plasma sintering (SPS) to obtain anisotropic magnetic powders and dense bulk. Its phase component, microstructure and magnetic properties were studied by X-ray diffractometer, scanning electron microscope and vibrating sample magnetmeter. After annealing and tempering, the alloy bluk with a high τ -phase content was obtained. With the increase of grinding time, the particle size of MnAlC magnetic powders decreases, and the average size of powders is less than 6 μm after 20 h grinding. The coercivity increases with the grinding time, but the saturation magnetization decreases with the grinding time. The maximum value of saturation magnetization is 72.7 emu/g, and the maximum value of coercivity is 3665 Oe. After magnetic field orientation , the H c of MnAlC magnetic powders reaches 5862 Oe. The coercivity of the MnAlC bulk after SPS is 3139 Oe.
