Abstract

FPGAs are silicon-based programmable electronics. A typical FPGA is made up of several programmable blocks, each performing a different function. FPGAs perform fast real-time processing, an ideal tool for signal and image processing. FPGAs are versatile and thus can be used in different fields. This manuscript details the different possible applications of FPGAs over a wide spectrum of applications. Present applications, as well as potential applications of FPGAs, are explored and weighed against other conventional devices.
