Abstract

We wrote this book for two primary reasons. First, we would like to help people who desire to responsibly improve their financial position. Second, we would like to assist those who are trying to help others to develop better personal financial wellness skills. We hope that this book helps its readers to strengthen their financial health during the current stressful financial environment, as well as into the future. In the chapters that follow, we will expand on select topics to inform a wide variety of people how they can practically enhance their financial position, in both good macroeconomics times and difficult ones. Two things differentiate this book from many other personal finance books that have been published. The first is that our discussion frequently involves practical technical considerations. Second, we apply common business activities like “due diligence,” and tools such as financial statement analysis to personal finance. This introduction profiles each of the book’s chapters and its conclusion.
