GME in Maritime English to Improve Oral Communication

Abstract

Student communication suffers from a lack of everyday interaction. They often think the language can't be used for contact. The study shows that GME course materials improve students' oral communication and asks if they're concerned about learning them. This study was experimental. Study. AMI AIPI Makassar's third-quarter population in 2016/17. The 2016/2017 research group had 42 students. This thesis used cluster and random sampling. Data was collected using an oral student communication test and a student interest questionnaire. The students' oral communication was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, and their interest was analyzed using the Likert scale. (1) The GME materials improved AMI AIPI's oral communication in Makassar's third semester (2). Students are interested in using GME language course materials in maritime academy teaching because they improve oral communication in terms of accuracy, fluency, and comprehension.
