Abstract
This is a short statement responding to the misuse of contestable historical materials to achieve ideological ends in the guise of the discipline of an academic colleague. It is a reflection on the dangers of political correctness in today's academic environment.
When the permanent things are hauled in tumbrils to the chopping block, we know how it ends.
