SEO Content Writing: A Linguistic Analysis

Abstract

With the expansion of the internet and its ubiquity in everyday life, writing content that ranks in search engines has become crucial in order to stand out amongst competition. Hence, the field of SEO content writing has been used to tackle this issue, specifically to write content that ranks in search engines. Therefore, considering the importance of SEO content writing and the lack of literature in addressing this field of writing, this paper has provided a linguistic approach in analyzing SEO-friendly content. For analytical purposes, this study made use of a corpus-based analysis of 197 blogs and articles derived from Google and Bing as well as a quantitative and qualitative survey with 63 SEO content writers. The obtained data was analyzed via corpus analytical tools and SPPS and important findings along with SEO content writing instructions have been provided in this paper as a guideline to writing SEO-friendly content.
