Abstract

Social Work education traveled to Bangladesh after World War II and the separation of India and Pakistan. The purpose of the study is to discuss the status of social work as a profession in Bangladesh and its problems and prospects from the contextual analysis of the existing literature on social work education and the social work profession. The study mainly walks on different aspects of the social work profession in Bangladesh such as historical aspects of social work in contemporary Bangladesh, professional development, scope and fields of social work, problems, and prospects. The study also put some recommendations related to the social work profession in Bangladesh.
