Abstract

In 2020, the National Constitution Center convened three teams—progressive, libertarian, conservative—of professors and scholars, charging them to draft new constitutions for the United States. After observing important overlap across the three constitutions, the National Constitution Center reconvened all the delegates in a constitutional convention in August 2022 to discuss actual potential amendments to the United States Constitution on which the three teams could agree. After two days of meeting in convention, the delegates were able to agree to five amendments involving presidential eligibility, the legislative veto, impeachments, appointments and confirmations, and future amendments.

Keywords: constitution, constitutional law, amendments, constitutional amendment, Supreme Court, Supreme Court reform, legislative veto, impeachment, comparative law, comparative constitutional law, constitutional structure
