Abstract
Green Supply Chain Practices is one of the emerging issues in the automobile industries. The automobile industry is responsible for the manufacturing of vehicles and its component worldwide. The number of vehicles sold in recent times have fall yet there are millions of vehicles and other similar kinds global. The activities of the automobile industry are part of the cause of greenhouse effects. In this study the researcher aimed to find out the drivers and barriers of the implementation of green supply chain practices in this industry. The findings of the study revealed that readiness of the company to implement it, customer requirements towards green issues, the size of the company, government and stakeholder involvements and corporate social responsibility are all drivers in the implementation of green supply chain practices. On the barriers to the implementation of green supply chain practices, the researcher found that commitment from top management, market demand and environmental performance metrics are all barriers. Government and other relevant stakeholders have to ensure that the automobile industry comply to all the greening regulations.
