Abstract

This essay addresses my experience in seeking the Doctor of Juridical Science Degree at Tulane Law School. Using my experience, it offers advice to prospective and current S.J.D. candidates at any school in the country. It also provides examples in the appendices of my research proposal (which you need to be admitted into a program) and my power point presentation that I used in my dissertation defense. It describes the nature of the S.J.D. degree and why people pursue it. It gives advice on how to prepare for admittance to the program, how to write the dissertation, how to defend the dissertation at the oral defense, and what to do after a successful oral defense. It is my hope that this essay will inspire and help others who are seeking this degree.
