Abstract

A lot of attention has been put on the development of new solid adsorbents for CO2 capture, and there is a complex connection between an adsorbent, the kind of separation process used and the context it should be used in. In this contribution we have carried out simulations of a selection of separation processes using the same generic mathematical model with the aim of finding the most optimal process for a selected solid adsorbent, in this case the solid amine Lewatit. We find a clear advantage for temperature swing adsorption (TSA) processes, such as moving bed (MBTSA) and fluidized bed (FBTSA, CSAR), when using the Lewatit adsorbent in a post-combustion NGCC context.
