Abstract

In this article I investigate state capture in the context of the aftermath of the financial crisis. I trace the uses of the term in Eastern European and Romanian recent historical context and argue for a Gramscian understanding of the current state of affairs, as a critical moment in counter-hegemony organization. While state capture has long been associated with Eastern European transition, increased recognition exists of its global manifestations within the capitalist system.
