Abstract

This paper presents a review of existing solutions for addressing rural digital skills scarcity and proposes a novel idea for a solution that can both address rural challenges and equip high school students with skills to be future-ready. Using narrative review qualitative methods of in-depth analysis, the authors exploit the reasons and implications of the shared mobile facility. This study explores a shared mobile facility solution that can reach students who are technologically “left behind”. The study contributes to understanding rural populations' digital skills gaps and the consequences if nothing is done. Implementing the proposed solution will contribute to implementing advanced digital skills training projects in rural South Africa.

Keywords: Mobile classroom, digital skills training, digitruck, rural areas.
