Abstract
A cybersecurity response can only be effective if it is done systematically while following an approved guide in the process. One way to achieve a sound cyber security response is by developing a Digital Forensics Incident Response roadmap. The security sector in Namibia does not have the capacity to respond effectively to cyber incidents and do not have structures in place designed to respond to such incidents. By developing a digital forensic incident response roadmap, an opportunity is created to change the cybersecurity landscape in the country.
In conducting the research, literature in developing DFIR roadmaps were reviewed through primary and secondary sources such as library and online searches. A mixed method approach was adopted in gathering research information in the target population. A sample was chosen from a population of personnel in the security sector. The main objective of the study was to develop a digital forensics incident response roadmap for the security sector in Namibia. The study is significant in that; it provides information to principal staff members of the security sector in planning considerations of cybersecurity in Namibia.
The study is expected to come up with suggestions and recommendations which may be adopted by government in efforts of addressing the issue. It covers the background, literature review, research methodology, related work, application of the NIST framework in developing a digital forensic incident response roadmap, conclusion, future work and recommendations on the same issue.
