Abstract

The study described that ChatGPT, as a recently developed AI model, may be used to generate essays and topics, thus posing a potential risk to the integrity of student submissions. The study used a qualitative approach where the researcher asked the students during the one-on-one interview via a prompt interview about their viewpoint on the artificial-based application ChatGPT. The results showed that more than half of the students are tempted to cheat and may use ChatGPT to generate content in their submission, which might threaten research integrity. While most students didn't admit to using ChatGPT in their writing, It is important to note that ChatGPT can generate text where academic integrity can be sacrificed. Students must also be aware of their institutions' academic integrity policies and plagiarism's consequences.
