Abstract
Cuba's historical dependence on fossil fuels is an issue to overcome. Beyond the usual reasons that allude to its eventual depletion and climate change, it is an important cause of the recurrent energy crises suffered by the country in the last three decades. Cuba has a system of legal norms in the energy field that, although continually improving, is comprehensive of the sector and is increasingly focused on achieving the necessary transition to renewable energy sources.
