Abstract

“Law is a dynamic field and it changes with the requirements of the human society”(Roscoe Pound). The Criminal Procedure Code (hereinafter refereed as “CrPC”) is a crucial piece of legislation that provides for the procedure for the administration of criminal justice in India. It is a comprehensive set of rules that govern the investigation, trial, and post-trial procedures for criminal cases in the country. The Code is aimed at ensuring that the criminal justice system operates in a fair, impartial, and efficient manner. The CrPC confers significant powers on the courts to ensure that justice is done and seen to be done. These powers include the power to summon witnesses, the power to order the production of evidence, the power to issue warrants and summonses, the power to grant bail, the power to sentence convicted offenders, the power to order retrials, and the power to direct investigations. These powers are crucial for the proper functioning of the criminal justice system and are aimed at ensuring that justice is administered in a manner that is fair, impartial, and efficient.
