Global Tables of Data Privacy Laws and Bills (8th Ed.) 2023

Abstract

The 8th Edition of these Tables provide details of data privacy laws from 162 countries, plus Bills for new Acts in additional countries.

The data in the Tables and articles are as known to the author at the date of publication, and are in three parts:
Global Table of Countries with Data Privacy Laws (by alpha)
Global Table of Official Data Privacy Bills (by alpha)
Table of UN member States with no data privacy law or Bill (by alpha)

Links to legislation, DPAs and international agreements are provided, but these are as yet incomplete. Links to the legislation in this Table are to copies in the National Data Privacy Legislation database, part of the free access Global Data Protection, Privacy & Surveillance Law Library, located on the World Legal Information Institute (WorldLII).

Changes to laws, international agreements, DPAs and DPA associations which have been added to this 8th Edition of the Tables are explained and analysed in my following articles :

Privacy Laws and Business published the first seven editions of these Tables, 2011-2021. From this 8th Edition onwards, the Global Tables will be published on SSRN’s Legal Scholarship Network. New developments may be added to the Tables as incremental updates to the 8th edition, until a 9th Edition is published. These incremental updates will be noted here and in the Table.
