The Land Grant University and STEM Education Renewal Act of 2022

Abstract

This draft legislation renews the promise of the Land Grant University system introduced by President Lincoln in the early 1860s by providing (a) tuition free enrollment in any STEM education program at a Land Grant University for the first two years; (b) interest-free lending to cover the cost of remaining STEM education at any such school, such loans to be forgiven upon graduation; (c) funding to Land Grant Universities to cover additional enrollments induced by the tuition assistance; and (d) funding to Land Grant Universities and community colleges that affiliate with them in the interest of expanding Land Grant University Extension Programs within their respective states. At least one Congressmember is considering the bill.
