Abstract

A new nickel phyllosilicate (Ni-PhySi) catalyst was synthesized and used for the selective hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds to alkenes. Nickel phyllosilicate catalyst was synthesized by deposition-precipitation with urea method and characterized by TPR-H2, N2 adsorption, XRD, FTIR and HRTEM methods. Nickel phyllosilicate showed an enhanced catalytic activity compared with supported nickel oxide and Ni Raney in hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds at mild conditions with the selectivity toward C=C bond formation higher than 86%. Moreover, nickel phyllosilicate demonstrated a great stability during at least three cycles of reuse.
