Abstract

The catamaran concept has been employed in high speed craft design for several decades. It is apparent that early on in the catamaran design phase, performance evaluation analysis is necessary. In this paper, performance of high-speed semi-displacement catamaran hull-forms have been evaluated in terms of total resistance and power at different speed and hull spacing. In this context, a systematic series of high-speed semi-displacement catamaran hull forms developed by the University of Southampton, have been chosen. The body plans for the series were based on extended versions of the NPL round-bilge series. Four hull-forms of the series of high-speed semi-displacement catamaran hull forms, with seven Froude numbers, four hull spacing ratios and a number of length-displacement ratios are considered for power prediction and performance evaluation.
