Abstract

This article, entitled “The material competence of the European Public Prosecutor's Office: a rather unambitious project?”, is based on a critical analysis of the material competence of the European Public Prosecutor's Office as a new European Union body for the pursuit of criminal law interests and it will therefore explore the possibility, the grounds and the advantages of extending the material scope of the European Public Prosecutor's Office's competence to cover organized crime, specifically with regard to the crimes of terrorism, human and drug trafficking and environmental crimes, which are a ferocious threat to the principles of the European Union and to the area of freedom, security and justice.
