Abstract
Abstract: Lanthanum ferrite (LaFeO3) was prepared by molten salt method using iron oxide powder (Fe2O3) and lanthanum nitrate (La(NO3)3·6H2O) as raw materials, NaCl-KCl composite molten salt as molten salt medium. The effect of different calcination temperatures on the synthesis of LaFeO3 by molten salt method was investigated. The results show that LaFeO3 powder can be synthesized from 700 °C to 900 °C by using NaCl-KCl composite molten salt as molten salt medium. Increasing the calcination temperature is conducive to the synthesis of LaFeO3 powder, the optimal calcination temperature for synthesized LaFeO3 is 900 °C. During the synthesis process, LaOCl was formed as an intermediate to promote LaFeO3 synthesis. In addition, the micromorphology of the synthesized LaFeO3 powder is irrelevant with the raw materials. This phenomenon manifests that the process of synthesizing LaFeO3 with NaCl-KCl as molten salt medium is contributed by the dissolution-precipitation mechanism.
