Abstract

Classical PID is rather a simplified execution of the primary principle for feedback control. It has extensive applications in industry, despite there being little information about plant dynamics. Nevertheless, faithful implementation of PID requires careful attention to some common issues. This paper emphasizes a comprehensive study of RelaxC controller, which is a better alternative to PID. To substantiate the effectiveness of RelaxC, it is applied to time delay systems such as First order plus dead time (FOPDT), Second order plus dead time (SOPDT), Multivariable and Nonlinear systems using MATLAB simulations. The results obtained manifest the efficacy of the RelaxC controller. The performance of RelaxC is then investigated by carrying out experiments on the Boiler pilot plant at the Advanced process control laboratory of COEP Technological University, Pune. The acquired results ascertain the usefulness of this controller for many industrial applications.
