The Nordic Approach to Corporate Governance and ESG

Abstract

This contribution to the Research Handbook on ESG in the Edward Elgar series “Corporate Law and Governance” (Prof Thilo Kurtz, Ed.) explores Danish corporate governance as an example of the Nordic CG model. The focus is on the superior role played by dominant shareholders, which determines the way limited liability companies are governed, that is, the G of ESG, but also determines the approach to regulating the E and S, notably the reliance on voluntary solutions based on reporting and transparency
