Evaluating the Performance of Social Venturesa Bibliometric Analysis and Focus Group Discussion

Abstract
Social entrepreneurship has been a most outstanding area in the academic review in the last few decades and evaluating performances of social enterprises' performance on social impact has turned into noteworthy consideration in professional and academic forums during the last two decades. Scholars stated that emphasis lifted from internal, operating performance measures to external, mission-related impact indicators, from efficiency to effectiveness, and from measurement to evaluation. The purpose of this study is to provide with vast knowledge linked with the evaluation performances of social enterprises (SE). This study takes the form of thematic analysis and literature review published in Scopus from 2002 to 2022 with bibliometric analysis. Focus group interview with owner managers in twenty-six SEs in Sri Lanka were used to collect the data for thematic analysis. Study proposed a performance evaluation model with four perspectives: (a) social financing, (b) triple bottom perspective, (c) internal operational perspective, and (d) knowledge management. Bibliometric analysis shade light on keywords and the most influential papers in SE in evaluating performances. Implications to the policymakers by providing noteworthy insights on evaluating performances in SE by proposing a model on developing country perspective.
