Modeling Opportunity Identification in Social Venturesa Bibilometeric Analysis

Abstract

“Opportunity identification” is a distinctive entrepreneurial habit, although its mechanics are yet unknown. Therefore, the purpose was to extend existing research on opportunity identification in the social entrepreneurship literature through qualitatively and quantitatively supported by bibliometric investigation. To understand the connections, bibliometric mapping, and to understand their structure, performance assessment adopted. Total of 119 articles were extracted (2015-2022 period) from the Scopus database using the keywords Modeling opportunity, Opportunity identification, Modeling opportunity identification. Additionally, semi-structured interviews were used to collect the data from 26 social entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka with maximum variation sampling technique. Influential keywords and temporal dimension of opportunity identification was discussed. Researchers and practitioners in the social entrepreneurship may find the results useful in advancing their knowledge and comprehension of Opportunity identification and modeling opportunity identification. Paper facilitates researchers, academicians and entrepreneurs gain insights on the Modeling opportunity identification in social ventures and future research opportunities.
