Abstract

Scarcity of land with adequate bearing capacity has become a challenging issue for the construction industry and infrastructural development. On the other hand, the task of solidwaste management presents complex technical challenges and pose a wide variety of administrative, economic, and social problems that must be managed and solved. Improper disposal of municipal solid waste can create unsanitary conditions and can lead to environmental pollution and to outbreaks of diseases spread by rodents and insects. Incineration is found to be an effective method for municipal solid waste management (MSW). This paper reviews the chemical composition and the suitability of MSW incinerator ash in soil stabilization considering its performance in engineering and sustainable aspects.
